Shakeera Thomas
Shakeera Thomas, a native to Guyana has brought her cultural faire to the Palm Beaches and other cities throughout North America. Her artistic essence can be reflected within the cultural avenues she has experienced as child, woman, mother and artist. Shakeera’s work is inspired by her humble beginnings and geometry. She is a jewerly designer, installation artist and avid chef.
Thomas, weaves metals to create unusual and unique jewelry, an inspiration she recollects from her upbringing as a net fishing weaver family member. Her inspiration continues as she moves from Guyana to New York in her early teens, she holds on to her roots as the busy city swirls her into a demanding fast pace life. Using her experiences in New York, Thomas creates mix media installation art pieces, reflecting the departure of a small town and the re-birth of the American dream.
Shakeera currently resides in Palm Beach, where she continues to create and push her wire crotchet work into dresses, fascinators, statement necklaces and many other commissioned work by clients from all over the globe.
